Storage Load

What is it?

SLOAD is a PRC20 token on PulseChain

Contract address: 0x228F44570B44654051Eef80A4e91cF57C8C920d3

Initial minted supply: 88,888,888

No more can be minted. It is possible to burn tokens.

There are no particularly special contract functions beyond basic PRC20 functionality.

What does the name mean?

SLOAD stands for "Storage Load" and is a reference to the EVM opcode that loads data from storage into memory. There is much lore around the SLOAD function within the PulseChain community. Its ever increasing cost to run is generally cited as the reason PulseChain exists. That's because the founder of PulseChain is also the founder of HEX, which (depending on how you use it), sometimes needs to call SLOAD many times. PulseChain reduces the cost to do so.

See below for another interpretation of the name.

What does SLOAD do? Why does it exist?

It is a boilerplate PRC20. Its purpose and / or utility may change over time if there is any.

The launch of SLOAD was inspired by a cluster of these related ideas:

  • The launch mechanic of STM. It started with a lot of supply / distribution control. When the price deviates from where it usually sits, it returns reasonably soon. This pattern may or may not continue.
  • The LPX platform, where pools can be set up to reduce volatility in order to create sustainable growth.
  • The concept of a "ping pong coin", or a token that *reminds* people of so-called "stablecoins" without actually falling into that category.
  • Liquity forks and variations
  • And more

Actually, the name "Storage Load" sounds a bit like a reference to the tired and overused term "store of value." SLOAD doesn't store much value at first. Perhaps storage is slowly loading

SLOAD merely takes these ideas as initial inspiration. There is no guarantee that it or its price will behave in any particular way. Plans may change at any time for any reason without warning. Here are some possibilities.

  • Airdrops
  • Utility token for a not-yet-created DeFi protocol
  • Or maybe something else
  • Or maybe nothing at all and it just sits there

There are no promises, and you should not have any expectations. See disclaimer below for more.

When and how was SLOAD made? By whom?

In November 2025 with the 9inch token deployer. The creator goes by SLOAD Minimalist on X and Telegram. The handle on both platforms is @EfficientHex

Is there a Telegram?

It might be better not to use telegram. There are scammers everywhere on Telegram. SLOAD Minimalist will never DM you. Scammers often copy profile pictures and make similar names to impersonate people you trust, then pretend to help you or ask for help in direct messages. Do not respond. Do not get scammed. You can ask questions in public, e.g. in public threads on X.

That said, because Telegram is the standard for these things, and to make sure there is an official place to go, there is a read only Telegram channel that might occasionally have updates, and it is called "SLOAD Tokens" at t.me/SLOAD_tokens

Did you say SLOAD "Tokens" plural? Are there any other tokens made by the same person?

In December 2024, a pooled HEX stake called BDAY5 was made to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the HEX launch. There may also be a BDAY6. There may even be more, different kinds of tokens later, but there are no guarantees of that.

BDAY5 contract address: 0x98C0C87c31171e97112a1Dcf085c7e98F3F17Da7
